Next to his role at ESGstart.eu Matthijs is a Managing Partner at Special Purpose Projects, which helps building companies that improves our world. Matthijs is associated with the CSRD collectief and co-founder of ESGadvies. 

With over a decade of experience in corporate venturing,  mergers & acquisitions and business development, Matthijs brings both strategic clarity and entrepreneurial agility to the table. He specializes in:

• Business model innovation in ESG-critical sectors such as food, water, and energy

• Entrepreneurship and active investing in scalable, impact-driven ventures

• ESG compliance strategy, with a focus on GHG reporting, CSRD, SFDR, and climate risk disclosures

• Building coalitions and public-private partnerships for energy transition

Matthijs holds an MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed executive education at London Business School. He is based in Amsterdam and works across Europe to support ESG-focused ventures and institutional partners.
